Trip to Niagara Falls, Canada

Choosing to go to Niagara Falls in the winter did not disappoint…

We drove up the first weekend of February for our anniversary trip and had the absolute best time. It might’ve been a bit cold but the views I was able to get were SO worth it.

Our drive up from CT was about 6 hours. Our first stop was ziplining over the falls with WildPlay Niagara Falls! This was absolutely insane. Honestly the cold made it even more surreal to be ziplining through the falls with the view we had. Check out the video I made below!

After that we stuck around for another 30 minutes or so to get more photos of the falls. It was so cool to be able to see it with all of the ice, definitely a view I won’t forget.

I was able to find an Airbnb to work with that was about an hour outside of Niagara Falls. We wanted to find one halfway in between there and Toronto because we wanted to try and make it up there for a day trip that weekend! (We never ended up making it because it was quite literally too cold out on Sunday to walk around a city lol)

We made a stop at MT Bellies for food to bring to eat at our Airbnb as well as Stok’d Cannabis for some bud and also made a stop at Shroomyz Magic Mushroom Dispensary!

We stayed in West Lincoln at The Porch, which was the cute little Airbnb that I found attached to a house with it’s own private room, bathroom, porch, and a hot tub to use! Here is the link if you want to book! They were queer and 420 friendly which was perfect for us. There were even a few cats wandering around the property that hung out for a bit!

The next morning we had a tour booked with See Sight Tours so I could work with them to get some content! This was definitely my favorite part of the trip, the views we were able to get of the Falls were insane.

Our guide Frank picked us up at the Skylon Tower Parking Lot in the morning and we headed to our first stop on the tour! We were supposed to go out on a helicopter but unfortunately with the weather (it was snowing a bit and super foggy) they decided it wasn’t safe to fly :(

Instead we ended up heading to a beautiful viewpoint of the falls where I was able to get some nice shots of the birds below, and we even saw someone ice fishing! After this, Frank took us to a Maple Syrup tasting which was super cool to learn about. We took a little walk around the shop there and then headed to our next stop! This is where we were able to go underneath the falls into tunnels to a viewpoint that lets you see beneath the falls! This was called Journey Behind the Falls! We shopped a lot in the gift shop there, I bought a sign for my sign collection, a beanie, a hoodie, a sticker, and a magnet!

After this, we got to do an immersive experience ride, Niagara Takes Flight, and soar across 56 kilometres of parkland, from the shores of Lake Ontario to edge of Lake Erie, as breathtaking landscapes unfold beneath you. Gliding over swirling rapids and steep rock faces, past lush forests and through dramatic battles that changed the course of history all before getting closer than ever to the thundering Horseshoe Falls. This was super cool, both Hayley and I love rides like these so it was the perfect activity to do instead of being freezing outside on a boat. (This is replaced with the boat tour in warmer months!)

Our last stop after this was to Skylon Tower where we were treated with a 5 star meal on top of the tower with an incredible view of the falls. I had steak and Hayley got chicken, and we both ordered a Martini to sip on while enjoying the view. 10/10 experience.

If you’re visiting Niagara and want to do all of these, I definitely recommend looking into See Sight Tours, they include just about everything you need with a personal tour guide too!

After our tour we walked a bit more around the falls and then ended up taking a drive to Niagara on the Lake to check that out! It was a little too cold to walk around so we just did a little drive around and stopped to take pictures of all the birds on the lake. You really get an entirely difference experience traveling somewhere in the winter, but I really loved being able to document life in Niagara in the cold. It’s quite peaceful.

After that we stopped at the grocery store to get some food and headed back to our Airbnb! We would definitely want to come back to Niagara, maybe during the fall since our tour guide said that was his favorite time of the year to see the falls.
