15 Reasons Why You Should Book the Group Trip!
Especially if you’re LGBTQIA+ and you love to travel!
As a trans artist I want to give my community the opportunity to travel with me on queer friendly group trips all over the world. With the current state of the world, it’s a scary time to be traveling as a queer person. But that shouldn’t stop us from being able to see the beauty of the world as our true selves. SO that’s why I wanted to create a safe space for us to travel together!
Here are 15 reasons why you should book the group trip with me:
#1 TRAVEL WITH YOUR COMMUNITY
You don’t have to feel alone when traveling. Travel alongside people who understand your lived experience. People who you can connect with. There’s something powerful about exploring the world with other queer creatives. You feel safer, freer, and more at ease being able to be yourself.
#2 EXPERIENCE A NEW CULTURE
Travel isn’t just about seeing beautiful views. It’s about opening your eyes. It’s about listening, learning, tasting, and witnessing how other communities live and thrive. Group trips like these allow you to immerse yourself into a completely different culture and learn directly from locals on the land. From my experience, that’s the best way to travel.
#3 EXPLORE A NEW COUNTRY
This is your chance to travel somewhere you might’ve never thought you’d ever be able to go. Sometimes traveling is scary. Especially doing it alone. But these group trip provide you with the opportunity to see all different parts of the world. Stand in places you’ve only seen in TV and movies. Exploring somewhere new reminds you how big the world really is and how much is out there for you to see and experience.
#4 MAKE REAL CONNECTIONS
One thing I can say for sure, is that traveling with a group of people like this brings you so much closer. When you experience a new country together, hike together, volunteer, share meal and open up, bonds form naturally. This is such a surreal experience to have and the people you travel with make it 10x better. You can leave the trip with lifelong friendships and memories that will last forever.
#5 TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE
With the world we’re living in, I try and focus my trips in intention. Whether we’re supporting conservation efforts or giving back to local communities, your prescenese on this trip means something. You are actively contributing to something bigger than just “tourism”. You’ll leave the trip knowing you gave back in some way.
#6 MAKE MEMORIES LAST
The memories that you make on trips like these will last you forever. Trust me. I will never forget my first group trip to Thailand. It easily became the best trip of my entire life. The people I met and the places we experienced together were absolutely unreal. Those are core memories. The kind that shift how you see yourself. Trips like these can change you. You won’t forget that.
#7 CHASE THE ADVENTURE
You might surprise yourself with the things you’re capable of doing on a trip like this. Check things off your bucket list. Try something you never thought you’d do before. What’s even better about it all? It’s all planned for you. You don’t have to worry about figuring out what excursion is legit or safe, all you have to do is follow the guide and chase the adventure.
#8 SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNITIES
These trips directly contribute to communities that do meaningful work. You are supporting local guides, local conservation projects, small businesses, and grassroots initiatives. This is incredibly important when traveling because it gives you the opportunity to learn from the locals directly.
#9 STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Maybe this will be your first time traveling internationally. These trips give you the opportunity to do those things you never thought you’d be able to do on your own. Especially living as a queer person in today’s America. Being able to share that space with new accepting people makes it ever easier. No matter what, you won’t be alone in it. You’ll be supported every step of the way. So, take the jump, it might change your life.
#10 HAVE YOUR MOMENTS CAPTURED
Don’t worry about needing to get your picture or “getting the shot” because I’ll be there documenting the entire trip through my lens. As a trans photographer and filmmaker, I know how important it is to feel seen. I’ll document all the memories for you to physically be able to re-live them. You won’t have to come back from your trip wondering why you didn’t take enough photos!
#11 CONNECT WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
Being surrounded by a community of creative naturally sparks ideas, inspiration, and meaningful conservations. Connect with people who get it. People who share the same values as you and want the same things for this world.
#12 ESCAPE FROM REALITY
This world is a scary place right now. It’s a privilege to be able to ignore all of it and detach from what’s going on. But you deserve to. Especially as a queer or trans person. Your identity is constantly being questioned and debated in politics, you deserve to be able to escape from that reality for a bit. Traveling with others who feel the same creates space to breath, reset, and remember there is more to life than just surviving. You need to experience as much of it as you can.
#13 LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Learn about sustainability. Learn about wildlife. Learn about conservation. Learn more about the world overall. About cultural history. And most importantly, learn more about yourself. Traveling has a way of showing you different parts of yourself you didn’t know you had.
#14 SHARE MOMENTS OF QUEER JOY
Queer joy is radical. Existing loudly and proudly with a group of queer people across the country is a feeling I will never forget. These trips create that safe space for queer joy. I’ll never forget feeling not one ounce of stress taking my shirt off in a group of other trans and queer people. You’re in a safe space. It’s easier to feel that joy surrounded by people who share it.
#15 FIND YOUR PEOPLE
Chosen family doesn’t just happen — it’s built through shared experience. Many people come solo and leave with a community of support. A group chat that never dies. Memories that last forever. People who show up long after the trip ends.
