“I have always felt a sense of pride in knowing I make sound and resolute decisions, from choosing my name to top surgery. I never really talked to anyone, one day I decided and I stuck to it. I always felt like that’s how I had to grow. I had to know, reach for it, and settle into it. I was never allowed ro explore, to be curious about myself in a way that allows me to take my sound and resolute ideas and make them expansive. When I look at the pictures Sam took, I finally feel like I have a space to explore. At our photoshoot, I presented him with who I am, who I show the world, who I believe I can be. He captured all of that and gave me still images of my imagination, my creation, my becoming. Looking at them now I can explore every piece of myself from the expression on my face, to the set of my shoulders, I can finally see what all the little things I think make me who I am look like together. I am learning so much about myself, I feel like I have tripled in size since our photoshoot. I’ve made the seeds of my ideas grow because he gave me space to slow down and capture them. “I’ve done a lot of shoots with Sam and I can wholeheartedly say that every single one has changed my perception of myself for the better. He’s been able to capture my raw confidence in a way I didn’t even know was humanly possible. When I first met Sam, I was one of the lowest versions of myself.
