Trans People Deserve to Travel Freely

As of today, the Supreme Court sided with the Trump Administration, allowing them to block transgender and non-binary people from choosing the passport marker that best aligns with their gender identity.

This means there will be no more “X” option for non-binary individuals and your passport ID must match your sex assigned at birth.

So any passports being issued, renewed, or corrected moving forward will reflect your sex assigned at birth.

Lawsuits WILL continue as this is putting the lives of trans, non-binary and queer Americans at risk all over the country. This fight isn’t over.

We deserve to travel freely — without fear for our safety, and with the same rights as any other American.

HERE’S WHAT I LEARNED TRAVELING AS A TRANS MAN:

Ever since before I transitioned, my dream was to travel, but living in a body that wasn’t mine was stopping me from experiencing the world as my true self.

Now that I’m living the life I dreamed about, the government wants to take that freedom away. But, I would not have had any of these travel opportunities I’ve created for myself... without my trans identity.

My gender identity should not be the reason I feel in danger living in the United States right now.

In fact, being trans is the realize I’m alive right now.

It might seem terrifying traveling as a trans person right now, but don’t let that fear stop you from seeing the world as YOU.

We all deserve that freedom.

Community is going to be the best resource you have when you travel. That’s why it’s been a goal of mine to create safe spaces for us to travel together.

TrovaTrip allows creators to bring their communities together on life-changing group trips around the world...

So THIS MONTH I am bringing a group of queer people to Thailand...

...and next summer I have plans to launch a camping trip in Californiaspecifically for trans, non-binary, and queer travelers who may not have valid passports and anyone else who might wanna join!

We all deserve to experience the world as our true self.
