Recreating Photos From My Time Abroad
Back in 2019, I spent four months traveling and living in Europe. At the time, I hadn’t yet transitioned, but it was the first time I really started exploring this version of myself I had always wanted to be.
Those photos were the beginning of my self-discovery and my passion for photography.
This past month, I had the chance to return to a lot of the same places. I decided to recreate some of those photos as the man I am today.
Reliving those memories in the body and identity that finally align with who I’ve always been has been deeply healing. It’s like closing a circle, giving my younger self the gift of finally being seen.
To anyone still figuring themselves out: the memories you make now don’t disappear when you transition. They come with you.
One day, you might revisit them as your true self, and the pain of the past can transform into something extremely beautiful. Healing doesn’t always mean erasing what used to be—it can mean reclaiming it and rewriting it on your own terms.
